Baker County, located at the intersection of three Oregon Scenic Byways, is full of charming history and beauty! Baker County includes communities such as Baker City, Haines and Sumpter. This area is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Surrounded by the Wallowa Mountains, Hells Canyon, the Powder River and the Elkhorn Mountains, the county has adventures to spare. 

The beautifully restored downtown area of Baker City boasts several buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The county’s rich Gold Rush history is on display in multiple locations, including the informative National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, the Baker Heritage Museum housed in a Natatorium built in 1920 and the Sumpter Valley Dredge opened for operation in 1935.
